Skip Bin Hire Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about local pricing, bin sizes, waste types, delivery, collection, surcharges and booking changes.
How do I see the skip bins and prices available in my area?
Enter the delivery suburb or four-digit postcode. The results page checks available products for that location and shows matching bin sizes and from-prices. Final price and availability are confirmed after you select the waste type and booking details.
What does the displayed price include?
The displayed total includes delivery, temporary use for the stated hire period, scheduled pickup, waste transport and disposal or processing of accepted waste within the selected product’s fill, weight and waste conditions. GST is included where stated.
Additional charges can apply only under disclosed conditions, such as excess weight, overfilling, contamination, prohibited material, special items, extended hire, failed access, relocation, waiting time or permit costs.
How do I choose the correct waste type?
Select the category that covers every material you plan to place in the bin. Household/light waste, green waste, builders waste, mixed heavy waste, clean concrete, brick and soil are not interchangeable. Use the waste-category guide or call before booking when the load is mixed or unusual.
What must never go in a skip bin?
Do not place asbestos or fibro, liquids, chemicals, oils or fuels, gas bottles, clinical waste or other hazardous material in a bin unless the exact selected product expressly permits that material. Never assume a hazardous item is accepted merely because a surcharge may apply to other special items.
What items may require declaration or an additional charge?
The answer depends on the selected product. Common examples can include mattresses, tyres, refrigerators, excess weight, overfilling, dense material, tree trunks, extended hire and failed access. Declare relevant items before checkout and read the product conditions.
How long can I keep the bin?
The included hire period is shown on the selected waste-type option and booking summary. It is not the same for every product. Contact the team before the collection date to request an extension; availability and additional hire charges may apply.
Do I need a council permit?
A permit or other approval may be required when a bin is placed on a road, nature strip, footpath or other public land. Rules vary by council. Confirm the placement and permit requirements before delivery. A bin placed entirely on suitable private property may not require the same approval.
What access is required for delivery and collection?
Provide safe truck access, suitable ground and enough room for the delivery method used. Check gates, parked vehicles, overhead wires, trees, eaves, gradients and soft ground. Failed access, waiting time or relocation can create an additional charge under the product conditions.
Can I request a particular delivery time?
Delivery dates and available windows depend on the location and fulfilment provider. A requested time is not guaranteed unless it is expressly confirmed. Keep the placement area clear for the agreed delivery day and ensure access instructions are accurate.
Who delivers and collects the bin?
Local Skip Bin Hire is the customer-facing online retailer and booking agent. Depending on the postcode, physical delivery, collection and waste transport may be completed by Local Skip Bin Hire’s own fleet or an independent local waste-service provider. Local Skip Bin Hire remains the booking and support contact.
Do I own the bin after checkout?
No. You purchase a complete skip-bin hire package and temporary use of the physical bin. The bin remains the property of Local Skip Bin Hire or the independent fulfilment provider, as applicable, and must be accessible for collection.
Can I change or cancel my booking?
Contact the team as early as possible. Changes are subject to availability and may affect price or delivery timing. The current cancellation and refund rules are set out in the Refund Policy and the Terms of Service.
Can I use Afterpay or Zip?
Afterpay or Zip may be available for eligible orders when displayed at checkout. Provider approval, account limits and terms apply.
Do you support builders, property managers and recurring bookings?
Yes. Commercial customers can discuss one-off jobs, recurring services and multi-site requirements with the team. Product availability, pricing and account arrangements depend on the required locations and service conditions.
