Council rules in the Hills Shire area

The Hills is served by The Hills Shire Council (NSW). To place a skip in a public place you lodge the Council's Skip Bin, Shipping Container or POD Placement application — authorised under section 68 of the Local Government Act 1993, with the Roads Act 1993 also engaged for work on or near a public road — and work can start only after fees are paid and Council's approval letter issues. A skip kept wholly within your own property boundary generally needs no approval. Local Skip Bin Hire works with suppliers who place your bin safely and compliantly.

Council references are a guide only and were reviewed on 20 July 2026 against The Hills Shire Council's own website — always confirm current requirements with your council. See the national council permit guide.
