Skip Bin Permit Banyule City Council
If your skip is going on a road, footpath, nature strip or parking bay in the Banyule City Council area, that is council land and the rules below apply. On your own driveway or property, they generally do not. No permit is required for bin placement on private driveways or private land.

Conditions the council sets
- A permit is required if a hired skip bin or container will be placed where closing or restricting public access, or anywhere on public land, is required - this includes a street or road managed by Banyule or VicRoads, and any footpath, nature strip or public laneway
- If VicRoads manages the proposed location you must first apply to VicRoads for a memorandum of authority; this is not required if Banyule manages the location
- If you need to close or restrict public access, all residences and businesses within 150m of the proposed location must be notified by a courtesy letter you distribute yourself, at least 7 days before bin placement, stating when the bin will be placed and collected, its dimensions and where it will be placed
- A skip bin placed where public access is restricted without a permit will be impounded, and may also result in a fine of up to $1000
