If your skip is going on a road, footpath, nature strip or parking bay in the City of Greater Geelong area, that is council land and the rules below apply. On your own driveway or property, they generally do not. "Bins placed on private property do not require a permit."

Conditions the council sets
- "If you wish to place a bin or miniskip on our land, the company you hire the bin from will need to take out a permit to place it on Council land."
- Whoever takes out the permit must supply evidence of $10 million public liability insurance
- Monthly fees apply to accredited bin skip companies (no amount published)
- "Infringements may be issued if a bin is detected on Council land without a permit."
