Conditions the council sets
- Containers must be placed parallel to the kerb and as close as possible to the edge of the road
- At least 10 metres from intersections and 2 metres from property driveways
- Ensuring a minimum clearance of 1.8 metres for pedestrian footpaths
- Outside restricted or high-speed zones (80km/h or above), and away from essential infrastructure such as fire hydrants, utility infrastructure, traffic lights and bus stops
- Depending on location and visibility: reflective tape or markings for visibility at night, traffic cones or barriers if in a high-traffic area, and flashing lights for placements in dimly lit areas or near intersections
