Skip Bin Permit City of Newcastle
If your skip is going on a road, footpath, nature strip or parking bay in the City of Newcastle area, that is council land and the rules below apply. On your own driveway or property, they generally do not. No permit is required from City of Newcastle. Where possible, Bulk Waste Containers should be placed on private property.

Conditions the council sets
- A Bulk Waste Containers permit is required where the container is placed on a public road, footpath or nature strip
- If the Bulk Waste Container is to be placed in a timed or restricted parking area, a Temporary Parking Permit is also required
- Bulk Waste Containers must comply with the RTA Technical Direction - Placement of Bulk and Skip Waste Containers July 2009
- City of Newcastle can only provide permits for Bulk Waste Containers placed on local and regional roads; requests for classified roads should be referred to Transport for NSW
- Applications must be submitted by a supplier registered with City of Newcastle, on the customer's behalf
