Skip Bin Permit Sunshine Coast Council

If your skip is going on a road, footpath, nature strip or parking bay in the Sunshine Coast Council area, that is council land and the rules below apply. On your own driveway or property, they generally do not.

Conditions the council sets

  • Storing of shipping containers or skip bins for construction works on verge or road is a temporary works activity requiring a permit
  • A non-refundable application fee applies and must be paid when you lodge the application; a bond is also payable and is assessed case by case
  • Adequate Tree Protection Zones (TPZ) must be established around existing trees near to the proposed works
  • A 'Dial Before You Dig' check must be conducted (www.byda.com.au or phone 1100)
  • On state-controlled roads, approval from the Department of Transport and Main Roads may be required in conjunction with the Temporary Works Permit
