Skip Bin Permit Yarra Ranges Council
If your skip is going on a road, footpath, nature strip or parking bay in the Yarra Ranges Council area, that is council land and the rules below apply. On your own driveway or property, they generally do not. 'Council will not approve any permit application where the Skip Bin can be placed safely on private property.' Skip bins should be placed on private land wherever possible; a permit is only for where the bin cannot be safely placed on private land.

Conditions the council sets
- 'Reflective marking tape at the ends and sides of the container to ensure the container is visible at all times. This will need to be done in accordance with the Code of Practice for the Placement of Waste Bins on Roadsides'
- 'Hazard lights placed on the corners of the container nearest to traffic between the hours of sunset and sunrise'
- 'Materials in the Skip Bin must not rot or cause offensive odours'
- 'Skip Bins must be removed by the end of the day the permit expires'
- 'The Skip Bin site must be safe and provide convenient access to members of the general public'
