We've recently expanded our Melbourne coverage to well over 200 suburbs across Greater Melbourne, with bins from 2m³ mini skips right up to 30m³ bulk bins. Here's what Melbourne customers should know before booking.
Melbourne pricing basics
Skip prices in Melbourne vary more by suburb than most people expect. Distance from the supplier's depot and the nearest transfer station both feed into the price, which is why a 6m³ bin can cost noticeably different amounts in Werribee versus Ringwood. That's the whole reason we built a postcode-based comparison — enter your postcode and you see the actual price for your address, not a from-price that changes at checkout.
Driveway or nature strip?
If the bin fits on your own property — driveway, front yard, building site — you don't need anyone's permission. If it has to sit on the nature strip or road, most Melbourne councils require a permit, and rules differ between councils. Placing the bin on private property is always the simpler, cheaper path, and most residential jobs can manage it.
Which size for common Melbourne jobs
- Apartment or townhouse declutter: 2–3m³ — check access with your body corporate first.
- Kitchen or bathroom reno: 4–6m³ general waste.
- Full house clear-out: 8–10m³.
- Landscaping with soil or concrete: mixed heavy waste in a smaller bin — weight limits apply.
- Builders and commercial: 12–30m³ depending on the project.
If you're unsure, our size guide covers it in detail — and when in doubt, go one size up.
Delivery timing
Book by early afternoon and next-day delivery is usually achievable across Greater Melbourne, Monday to Saturday, with a choice of morning or afternoon windows. Sunday delivery isn't offered — plan weekend jobs around a Saturday drop.
Waste types
Make sure you book the right waste type — general, green, mixed heavy or clean fill. Our guide on what can go in a skip bin explains each category and the items no operator can accept, like asbestos and chemicals.
