What goes in a light waste skip bin?
Light waste is bulky but low-density rubbish — the kind that fills a bin by volume, not weight. Booking the correct waste type means the bin, weight allowance and pricing are right for your load. Displayed prices include delivery, pickup, GST and accepted waste removal within the bin's conditions.
Accepted materials
- Cardboard, paper and packaging
- Light timber and untreated offcuts
- Plastics and polystyrene
- Furniture and general household clutter
- Light green and garden waste
Not accepted — prohibited items
Never accepted (no exceptions). These hazardous items are prohibited in every skip bin:
- Asbestos, fibro and fibreglass
- Chemicals, liquids, oils and fuels
- Gas bottles and aerosols
- Paints and solvents
- Batteries
- Clinical or medical waste
Do not place these in the bin. If prohibited items are found after collection, contamination and disposal fees will be charged and the load may be rejected.
Not suitable for this waste type. Soil, brick, concrete, tiles and other heavy fill are weight-limited and belong in a smaller dedicated heavy-waste bin.
Special items — surcharge applies
These items are accepted but attract a surcharge because they cost more to process. They are confirmed before checkout — they are not prohibited, just priced separately:
- Mattresses
- E-waste (TVs, monitors, appliances)
Recommended sizes
Because light waste is bulky, larger 6m³–12m³ skips are often the most economical. See the skip sizes guide to match a size to your job.
