Litchfield Council is the only Northern Territory council whose fee schedule names skip bins outright. It publishes a $50.00 Storage on Road Reserve Fee for placing shipping containers, skip bins and similar in the road reserve, for a maximum five-day period, effective from 1 July 2026.

What Litchfield leaves open

The words "skip bins" appear only in the fee schedule, under the Storage on Road Reserve Fee. The Works Permits web page and the 2024 works permit form never mention them, and the form's type-of-works list — development permit works, driveway installation, trench, service installation, traffic control, tree removal, other — has no bin or container box.

The consequence is a genuine open question: it is not published whether a household skip bin also attracts the $132.00 application fee and the $12.00 daily fee on top of the $50.00 storage fee, or whether the storage fee stands alone. On the schedule's own wording the storage fee is "charged in addition to the Works Permit Application fee", which reads as all three — but we have not seen that confirmed for a domestic bin. Ring (08) 8983 0600 before you budget for it.

The schedule's page legend reads "GST FREE = Item is exempt from GST per ATO Division 81", but the works permit items carry no individual GST marking in the text we extracted, so we make no GST claim on these amounts.
