Skip Bin Permit City of Adelaide

The City of Adelaide covers the CBD and North Adelaide — postcodes 5000 and 5006 — and treats a skip bin on the street the same way it treats scaffolding, hoarding or a shipping container: it falls under the Council's City Works permit, priced by how much footpath or road space it actually occupies.

Read from the City of Adelaide's own 2026-27 Schedule of Fees and Charges on 4 September 2026. Check the current schedule before you book — Council doesn't print a separate skip-bin-only line, this is the same per-square-metre City Works rate every occupation of the street is charged at.

What the fee actually covers

  • A small mini-skip on a quiet North Adelaide street will usually sit near the $32.00-a-day minimum
  • A larger skip, or one placed somewhere the footprint is measured in several square metres, is charged at $1.85 per m² per day instead — the fee scales with the space the bin actually takes up
  • The daily rate is capped at $430.00 regardless of how much space is occupied
  • No separate skip-bin fee line exists on Council's schedule — this is the general City Works occupation charge applied to any object placed on the footpath or road

A note on what we can and cannot tell you

We hire skip bins; we don't issue City Works permits and can't apply for one on your behalf. What's above is what the City of Adelaide had published when we checked — the council's own schedule is the current word if anything has changed.
