Skip Bin Permit Macedon Ranges Shire Council

Gisborne, Kyneton and Woodend all sit under the same rule: a skip bin on your own block needs nothing from Macedon Ranges Shire, but the moment it touches a road, nature strip or footpath, Council's local law and its fee switch on.

Permit fee (2026/27) $109.00 per skip bin, valid up to 12 months, non-refundable
Coverage Macedon Ranges Shire — Gisborne, Kyneton, Woodend, Romsey, Riddells Creek and surrounds

Read from Macedon Ranges Shire Council's own website on 4 September 2026, and cross-checked against the $109.00 line item printed in Council's Adopted Budget 2026-27 (up from $106.00 in 2025/26 — a 2.8% increase). Check the current page before you book.

What the $109 fee covers, and what it doesn't

  • Covers a single domestic skip bin, 4m³ or smaller, placed on Council land such as a road, nature strip or footpath, for up to 12 months
  • A skip bin larger than 4m³ needs a different approval — Council's Asset Protection Permit — priced separately from this one
  • The fee is non-refundable once paid, regardless of how long the bin actually stays
  • Applicants need to be 18 or over and hold at least $10 million in public liability insurance, plus supply an aerial map showing where the bin will sit

How to apply

Macedon Ranges takes applications online (the preferred route) or via a printable form. Council's own guidance: "Please allow up to 28 days for processing of your permit application" — noticeably longer than most metro councils, so this isn't one to leave until the week before delivery. Questions go to Council's Local Laws team on (03) 5422 0333 or locallawsadmin@mrsc.vic.gov.au.

Skip bin prices in the Macedon Ranges area

Live prices pulled from our booking engine on 4 September 2026: Gisborne 3429 starts from $287 for a 2m³ and $423 for a 4m³; Kyneton 3444 and Woodend 3442 both start from $588 for a 2m³ and $694 for a 4m³ — Gisborne sits on a different depot run to the shire's northern towns, which is why the two price bands differ. Delivery, collection, tip fees and GST are all built into each figure — no add-ons at checkout.

We don't yet have a dedicated Gisborne, Kyneton or Woodend page — search your postcode to see live pricing and book directly.

A note on what we can and cannot tell you

We hire skip bins; we don't issue Macedon Ranges Shire's road-and-nature-strip permits and can't apply for one on your behalf. The figures above are what Council had published and what its own Adopted Budget listed when we checked — Council's page is the final word if either has since changed.
