Conditions the council sets

  • Maximum bin size is 6m³ — anything larger isn't covered by this permit
  • At least 1.5 metres of footpath clearance must be kept free at all times
  • The bin must be a visible colour — yellow, orange or white
  • Placing a bin on the roadway itself (rather than the footpath or nature strip) is only allowed "under extreme circumstances and in daylight only"
  • Rental fees cover a maximum 3-day placement block; a longer stay needs a fresh rental fee

How to apply

Apply online through a MyWilloughby account — register if you don't already have one, then submit the skip bin permit application with a photo or Google Maps screenshot of the proposed location. Council's general line is 02 9777 1000.

A note on what we can and cannot tell you

We hire the bin; the MyWilloughby application is something you'll need to lodge yourself, since it's tied to your own council account. What's above is what Willoughby City Council had published when we checked — the council's own page is the current word.
