Which Australian postcodes have no skip bin service?
The direct answer
366 of the 868 Australian postcodes we probed — 42% — returned no bookable price from any supplier network our booking engine queries, at any bin size or delivery date we tried. Measured 27 August 2026. South Australia has the most unserved postcodes (117 of the 231 probed); Western Australia has the highest share (107 of 160, 67%).
Say it precisely, because nobody else will: this does not mean no skip bin exists in those towns. A local independent operator we do not buy from may still serve some of them. It means the national booking networks cannot put a bin there — and if a website quotes those networks, it cannot either, whatever its coverage map says.
How this was measured
- Each postcode was queried against the live booking engine that powers this site. The engine asks our supplier connectors and returns the best price any of them will honour.
- The probe refused catalogue fallback, so our own published list price was never allowed to stand in for a live supplier price.
- A postcode was recorded as unserved only after every source declined it three times over — a 4m³ bin on two different delivery dates, and a 6m³ bin as well — so a single sold-out day cannot fake a result.
- General waste, 7-day hire, delivered price including collection and disposal.
- The 868 postcodes are those with location pages on this site — metro and regional in every state, but not every Australian postcode.
- Probe run 27 August 2026 (dataset probe-results.json; analysis coverage-gap-study.json, 28 August 2026). Every South Australian no-price result was re-probed on 2 September 2026 and again on 3 September 2026 — all 117 were still unserved both times.

*Christmas Island (6798) and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (6799). Only four NT postcodes carry location pages here — too few to say anything about the Territory.
359 of the 366 sit outside the rough capital-city metro bands used in the study. The seven exceptions inside those bands all sit on the coastal strip north of Perth — Carabooda (6033), Yanchep (6035), Two Rocks (6037) and the 6041–6044 codes through Guilderton, Seabird and Ledge Point to Lancelin — which is inside the band the study drew, though not all of it is what a Perth resident would call metro.
South Australia: the biggest hole, region by region
Every one of South Australia’s 117 unserved postcodes sits outside metro Adelaide, and they are not scattered — they cluster into regions you can name. All of the following returned no network price on 27 August 2026, and every one of them was re-probed on 2 and 3 September 2026 with the same result:
- Kangaroo Island — all four probed postcodes, 5220–5223 (Parndana, American River, Penneshaw, Kingscote).
- Fleurieu coast — 5202–5204 (Myponga, Yankalilla, Normanville) and 5211–5214 (Victor Harbor, Port Elliot, Middleton, Goolwa).
- The Barossa — 5350–5352 (Rosedale, Lyndoch, Tanunda).
- Murraylands — Murray Bridge and district, 5253–5254.
- Riverland — the 5330–5346 river towns, including Waikerie (5330), Loxton (5333), Renmark (5341), Berri (5343) and Barmera (5345).
- Eyre Peninsula — Tumby Bay (5605), Port Lincoln and district (5606–5607), much of the 5630–5680 range, and Ceduna (5690).
- Far north — the 5722–5734 outback codes, including Andamooka (5722).
Tanunda, Victor Harbor, Goolwa, Renmark and Port Lincoln are substantial towns. None of them returned a price from any network we query.
What you can actually do in one of these postcodes
- Run the live search anyway. This page is a dated measurement, not a promise about today, and coverage changes. The reverse also matters: our probe only marked a postcode unserved after every source declined multiple sizes and dates, so one failed search for one size on one date does not make your area unserved. Search your postcode.
- Ask us to source a price. Where a live price is not published on the site, we try to source one from our supplier network and send it to you. If nothing verifiable can be found for your postcode, we say so — we do not invent a price.
- Check a nearby serviced delivery address. Prices are per delivery postcode. If the job can take delivery at a serviced address nearby — a workplace, a family property in the next town — search that postcode instead.
- Use your council. Many councils run hard-waste collections, transfer stations or resident tip access, and for some jobs that beats a bin anyway — we compared council hard waste collection against a skip bin across 36 councils.
- Try a local independent operator. This measurement cannot see operators outside the networks we buy from. A town those networks cannot serve may still have a local yard that serves it well.
Why we publish this
Every skip bin website publishes where it can deliver; almost none publishes where it cannot. That leaves a resident of one of these 366 postcodes searching site after site with no way to learn that the answer was already no. Publishing the no saves you the afternoon — and it keeps our own coverage claims honest, because they are now testable against a dated list.
